I was in Jaisalmer for a project and there I heard about a temple that shaken Pakistan's soul and smashed their dreams to capture Delhi. This temple is 130 km away from Jaisalmer district headquarter. The temple is situated at the border of India and Pakistan. The temple is Tanot Mata temple which is known for its miracles.

Story of Tanot Mata temple

Tanot Mata Temple. This temple is believed to be 1200 years old. Although this temple has always been the center of faith, after the Indo-Pak war of 1965, this temple has become famous for its miracles in the country and abroad.

Nearly 3000 bombs dropped by the Pakistani Army in the Battle of 1965, could not spoil the temple. Even approx. 450 bombs that fell in the temple premises did not explode. The bombs are still kept in a museum built in the temple premises for the devotees to visit.

After the Battle of 1965, the responsibility of this temple was taken over by the Border Security Force and it established a checkpoint here. Not only this, on the night of December 4, 1971, the Punjab Regiment and a company of the Border Security Force destroyed the entire tank regiment of Pakistan at Longewala with the grace of mother and made Longewala a cemetery of Pakistani tanks. Longewala is near Tanot Mata. Only 120 soldiers defeated a full-fledged army tank regiment in a single night.

After the victory of Longewala, a Victory Pillar was constructed in the temple premises where now on 16 December every year a celebration is held in the memory of the soldiers. Tanot Mata is also known as Aawad Mata and is a form of Hinglaj Mata here. Hinglaj Mata's Shaktipeeth is in Baluchistan, Pakistan. Every year a huge fair is organized here in Ashwin and Chaitra Navratri.

The Border Security Force personnel posted at Tanot Chowki say that Mata is very powerful and fulfills every wish. Mother's grace is always on our head. Even our hair cannot deter the enemy. He said he feels that all the time that a special power gives us the courage to fight the enemies.

The kingdom of Bhati Rajputs was established by the grace of Mother after coming to Maad state. King Tanu Rao Bhati made this place his capital and presented the golden throne to Aavad Mata. In Vikram Samvat 828 AD, Aavad Mata, having his physical body, established his stay here and provided food and lodging facilities for the devotees who visit the temple of Mata. A rest house has been built by the Devasthan Department of Rajasthan at a cost of more than one crore. The rest houses are operated by the battalion of BSF, which arranges and worships the temple on the basis of neither profit nor loss.

People from neighboring areas of Bhati and Jaisalmer are also coming to worship Tanot Mata. It is said that the caravan of camels of traders going to Sindh and Afghanistan used to pass through here before the country became independent. The fair is held twice every year during the Navratri at the Tanot Rai temple. Aarti is performed every morning and every evening in a systematic way. Since this area is in the strategically sensitive border area, devotees are allowed to stay the night only after having a complete checkup and identity card in the rest house.

How to reach Tanot Mata Temple?

You can book a taxi to go to Tanot from Jaisalmer city of Rajasthan. You can return from Jaisalmer to Tanot by keeping the time for half a day. The Rajasthan Roadways bus leaves for Tanot every evening at 4 pm. The devotees who visit it stop there and the bus returns to Jaisalmer in the morning the next day. You should definitely go to Jaisalmer Rajasthan to visit Tanot Mata. Mother Goddess will definitely fulfill your every wish.

What is special about there?

The temple is situated on the border of India-Pakistan and after visiting there, you can feel the energy and the best part is you can feel the patriotism in the air. Once in a lifetime, you should visit there and see the miracles from your naked eye.
