The first apple tree was planted in Harsil by Fredrick Wilson, and since then, apple cultivation and trade started there. A species of apple named Wilson is still very famous in Harsil. Wilson gave Harsil the title of Switzerland.

Gangotri Dham

Gangotri Dham is one of the four dhams of Uttarakhand. It is about 21 kilometers from Harsil. There is a temple of Ganga ji here, in which his statue is kept.




Dharali Gangotri

A short distance from Harsil is a place called Sattal, where there is a group of seven lakes.

Ganganani

This place is considered to be the home of Ganga ji's grandmother and once a year, Ganga ji comes to her grandmother's house. Harsil remains 26 km from there.



How and when to go Harsil?


From Rishikesh, Uttarkashi, and then from there can be increased towards Harsil and Gangotri. You can go there from April-June and from September to November. You can private taxi from your starting point, can also take your car. Local trains also go from Uttarkashi.
